Getting your Portuguese ID Numbers

To operate in Portugal, you will be required to have certain identification numbers, even before you get your residence card, namely:

• A Fiscal ID number, called NIF (”Número de Identificação Fiscal”). This has 9 digits and is your taxpayer number, that will be used to identify you for most relevant purposes, such as a work contract. This can be obtained at any Tax Service (”Serviço de Finanças”);
• A Social Security number, or NISS (”Número de Segurança Social”), that makes you a beneficiary of all social security services, such as unemployment subsidies and others. You can get this at a Social Security Service (”Serviços da Segurança Social”);
• A National Healthcare User number, or NU (”Número de Utente”). This allows you to access your National Healthcare Systems.

You can get these at a “Loja do Cidadão” (Citizen Store), a place that congregates several of the government services that exists almost in every Portuguese city.

Ukraine and the EU have signed an agreement on road freight transport, also known as "visa-free travel". What does it give?

The agreement eliminates the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain permits for bilateral and transit traffic to EU countries and avoids stopping the export of Ukrainian products through road checkpoints;

provides for measures to facilitate the recognition of driver's licenses - now Ukraine and the EU exempt holders of driver's licenses issued by one of the parties from the requirement to have an international driver's license.

The term of the agreement is one year. It will earn on a permanent basis after the completion of all ratification procedures
